Salt des Rubió

Route to the spectacular waterfall Salt des Rubió.
The route is very short, less than one kilometre on a dirt track in good condition. Up to the top of the waterfall, the route is accessible to anyone. The descent to the pool at the bottom is very dangerous as the old descent has disappeared in several sections, and is only suitable for people in very good physical condition and with perfect balance. It is advisable to wear footwear suitable for slippery terrain. The route is not circular and is not signposted. The stream carries water only in years of abundant rainfall.
To get to the start of the route, take the road from Sant Miquel to Sant Mateu. Shortly after the first kilometre you will come to a crossroads. Take the road on the right, following the signs to Portixol/Sant Mateu Nord, and leave the road on the left, which would take you to Sant Mateu Sud. One kilometre further on, after a right-hand bend and on the right-hand side is the start of the path.

Along the way you will be able to observe the most common examples of the island's flora and fauna, as well as some plants that only thrive in aquatic and humid environments. Halfway down the path you will start to hear the croaking of frogs.
The difficulty of the descent to the bottom of the waterfall is compensated by the extraordinary views.
